CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME
Admission of students to the first education programme of our department is carried out among the candidates who are successful in the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) organised by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM), those who make a preference among the successful candidates, those who make a preference among foreign students, vertical transfer, intra-institutional transfer, inter-institutional transfer, horizontal transfer with central placement score. According to the results of ÖSYM exams, an average of 40 students are admitted to the first education programme of our department annually. In addition, students from other universities with protocol agreements are accepted to study in our department within the scope of Farabi / Mevlana / Erasmus exchange programme in the status of temporary student and limited to certain periods.
First (daytime) education programme is carried out in the Department of Chemistry Undergraduate Programme.
The regular education period of the undergraduate programme of the department is eight semesters and the maximum duration is fourteen semesters.
The language of instruction of the undergraduate programme of the department is 100% English. Students who are newly enrolled in the department are first enrolled in the compulsory foreign language preparatory class education given by the School of Foreign Languages of our university. The regular education period of the English preparatory class is two semesters and the maximum period is four semesters. Students who exceed the maximum period are not accepted to the department and are transferred to a similar programme with 100% Turkish language of instruction by ÖSYM. Students who successfully complete the English preparatory class education within the specified periods start their education as the first semester student of the undergraduate programme.
Within the scope of the Farabi / Mevlana / Erasmus exchange programme, our students who meet the necessary conditions can study at domestic and foreign universities with protocol agreements for certain periods of time.
In order to be eligible for programme graduation, certain obligations must be met. These obligations are fulfilled by having a minimum of 30 ECTS of compulsory / elective courses taken and successfully completed in each semester of the curriculum (*The total ECTS value of the courses in the 1st semester is 32 in the curriculum plans with Career Planning course), the total of eight semesters reaching 240/242 ECTS, no failure / absenteeism / inadequacy grade, and a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or above.
Students who graduate from the first education programme of our department are entitled to receive the diploma of ‘Bachelor of Science in Chemistry’. Students who complete the courses required for graduation and fulfil the graduation requirements can graduate in a shorter time. No title is given to the student who is entitled to graduation.
Students enrolled in 2019 and subsequent years continue their education and training processes in accordance with the ‘2019 Bologna ECTS Compatible Chemistry Department Curriculum’. The maximum rate that students subject to this curriculum can take during the course registration process is determined as the ECTS of the course, and their grade point averages (SW-GPA* - OW-GPA**) are calculated based on the ECTS rate of the course.
